H.E. Omar Al Olama

Biography

Omar Sultan Al Olama is the United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications. He was appointed Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence in October 2017, and the portfolio was expanded in July 2020. Since 2023 he has also served as Director General of the Prime Minister’s Office. In June 2026 he was tasked with leading the new Federal Authority for Artificial Intelligence and Data, which reports to the UAE Cabinet.

Before his ministerial appointment he worked in the UAE Prime Minister’s Office and helped develop the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy. He is Vice Chair of the World Government Summit, a member of the Board of Trustees and Deputy Managing Director of the Dubai Future Foundation, and Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy. He was a member of the UN High-level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the American University in Dubai.
