Dr. Edith Euan
Biography
Dr. Edith Euán Díaz is a Mexican-Belgian physicist and leader in the European AI and semiconductor industry, working at the intersection of deep technology, industrial policy and public-private cooperation. Her expertise lies in what it takes for deep tech to succeed: turning breakthrough science into companies and infrastructures that scale, and aligning governments and industry behind the strategic technologies Europe needs.
Deep tech has been the constant thread of her career. She began in the academy, researching soft condensed matter and computational modelling, then moved to the frontier of AI and high-performance computing at EBRAINS, where she advised the leadership on becoming a permanent European research infrastructure. Today she works at the hardware layer of AI as a Director at Axelera AI, a European AI semiconductor scale-up. Along the way she has helped build deep tech ventures and infrastructures from early stage to scale, shaping technology roadmaps, building partnerships across the value chain, securing long-term capital and navigating the policy environment.
Her policy work centres on the conditions that allow innovative companies to scale in Europe. She served as sherpa to a member of the Industry Advisory Group advising the European Commission on the revision of the European Chips Act, contributes to the Dutch national semiconductor strategy as a panel member of Semicon Board NL, and supports the founding of the European Fabless Semiconductor Association. She also sits on a steering committee of Agoria, the Belgian technology federation.
Edith holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Antwerp and the University of Guanajuato and an Executive Master from Solvay Brussels School. Having built her career across Mexico and Europe, she brings a bridging perspective between regions and between science, industry and policy. She mentors women moving into technical leadership.
