H.E. Andrés Jato

Biography

Andrés Jato is a Swedish diplomat who serves as Sweden’s Ambassador to Mozambique, based in Maputo. The Swedish government appointed him to the post in May 2025, and he presented his credentials in September 2025.

From 2023 to 2025 he was Sweden’s Special Envoy for International Cyber Issues, a post within the Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ Department for Security Policy, representing Sweden on cyber matters in the EU, NATO and the United Nations and engaging with other countries and the private sector. He was previously Ambassador to the Holy See and Malta, based in Stockholm, from 2021. Earlier in his career he headed the Foreign Ministry’s Department for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation and its European Correspondent unit, served as Ambassador for Arctic issues, and was posted to the Swedish Embassy in Sarajevo.
