Maricarmen Sequera is a lawyer with a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property from FLACSO Argentina. She is a Specialist in Cybersecurity from the University of León and in Technopolitics from the University of Barcelona.

She was a 2023 Fellow in the Global Competitiveness Leadership (GCL) Latin America and Caribbean Studies program at Georgetown University. She is a finalist of the 2021 EQUALS in Tech Awards and was named Hero at Access Now’s 2015 RightsCon Awards.

She is a member of the Latin America and Caribbean Regional Grants Committee of the Wikimedia Foundation – term 2023–2025. She is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Councils network term 2025–2026.

She is a feminist and co-founder of TEDIC, a human rights organization focused on digital environments, gender inequalities, and their intersections. She conducts research and publications on technopolitics, digital rights, and gender.
